Why You Need A Velvet Blazer

Apparently, velvet is making a comeback by taking a look at some of the runways during NYFW 2014.  Velvet was huge in the 90’s, but it has been a staple in my closet for awhile.  I have worn velvet jackets and blazers for many years, whether it was on trend or not.  Velvet gives off a menswear vibe and very sophisticated look, which I enjoy.  It is a no-go for a lot of people because they believe that this fabric has an old-fashion feeling, or they just are unsure how to style such a piece.  I really do understand some of these apprehensions, you definitely have to be careful. Velvet must be worn in a very updated and contemporary way, and I don’t know a better way to do that then to pair it with a printed pant.
