Do we buy winter clothes on sale, or get a jump-start on spring with something fresh and fabulous? With a little searching, we can have them both. It used to be that there were cold weather clothes and warm weather clothes. Now, thanks to the genius of layering, that line isn’t so clear and we can get great clothes now that we can wear straight through the year. Then there’s the coats, the item of clothing that I always think no one pays attention to, until this year. I bought a Navy Fleece Swing Coat, Woman Within, and went all out with a fuchsia, purple and nay shawl that I wrap as a scarf. Navy is really flattering and the bold colors make it pop on even the most dreary winter day.
My favorite ‘transition’ sweater (at 50% off – yay!) is Jessica London Cable Knit Tunic, especially in white, spice or raspberry. The colors look perfect with white jeans on cool summer nights and the white always looks perfect, especially with denim jeggings and metallic sandals.
My favorite early spring and I-can’t-believe-it’s-on-sale sweater is Roaman’s Floral Crochet Pullover, and it comes in 5 colors. This great plus size sweater is simply chic and completely comfortable.
We’ve all seen the athleisure look on celebs, and the trick is to wear one piece of the look and keep the rest non-athleisure. For example, if you wear a yoga pant with a sweatshirt, it’s a gym look. If you take the season’s hottest pant, the side-striped yoga pant, and pair it with a softer top, you’ve nailed the trend. Best news, it’s a winter trend that is continuing right into spring and summer. Woman Within’s Stretch Bootcut Yoga Pants with Side Stripes are perfect, especially when worn with an oversized sweater or tank top and short jacket. I love that they come in 10 color combos so you can wear the cobalt blue stripe with Woman Within’s Tank Top in soft stretch knit in cobalt blue under the crochet pullover sweater in white. It’s a fabulous, flattering and comfortable yet chic look.
